Lee Bullen is an integrated pest management consultant based in Somerset, UK.

After a career in the Royal Navy working as an Aircraft Engineering Technician with 801 Squadron (sea harrier FA2) and looking for a new challenge he set up West Country Pest Control in 2017.

Lee has developed a real passion for integrated pest management within the pest control industry, providing technical support not only to the company’s own pest control technicians but also providing support on larger scale sites such as all types of business’s, large country estates, Ministry of defence, and emergency services sites throughout the Southwest of England.

Lee understands the importance of risk management and how best to employ pest management services based on the needs of the customer and their business requirements taking into consideration the local environment, often providing covert integrated pest management services to ensure continuity of service and low-key pest management operations at sensitive sites. We are often called in to carry out audits of a business’s pest control arrangements, and offer advice.

Within the pest management industry there are continuous changes in legislation concerning the use of pesticides, this is something Lee enjoys and likes to stay current with to ensure sites are safe and legal.

The company itself is a firm supporter of CRRU, the campaign for responsible rodenticide use, and recognises the need to ensure that rodenticides are used correctly and in ways that minimise the exposure of wildlife and other non-target animals. We have signed a licence agreement undertaking to abide by the CRRU code.

From the outset Lee wanted the company to be the best, and so shortly after its inception West Country Pest Control became a member of the British Pest Control Association (BPCA) – the trade body for the pest management industry in the UK. It shows we abide by industry Codes of Conduct and Practice and pass regular audits against British Standard EN 16636 – the benchmark of quality for pest management operators across Europe.

Membership also confirms that we’re able to provide detailed advice on pest prevention measures and will carry out a proper survey before starting any work.

This means that we protect staff, customers, and members of the public through risk and COSHH assessments, it means we only employ technicians who meet or exceed the industry standard qualifications and shows that we’re committed to Continuous Professional Development. Lee is a fully registered as an independent BPCA Registered Technician with the British Pest Control Association where continuous professional development (CPD) is a requirement to stay current, legal and safe.
